Aaron Rodgers and Jared Goff will be rare playoff quarterback matchup
With Jared Goff starting on Saturday, Rams-Packers will bring a rare playoff quarterback matchup against Aaron Rodgers
Jared Goff stepped in for an injured John Wolford (neck) in the Wild Card Round against the Seattle Seahawks, playing with a surgically repaired thumb. It had been unclear who will start under center for the Rams Saturday against the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round, but Wolford was ruled out on Thursday. So it’ll be Goff, and it will be a rare playoff matchup for opposing starting quarterbacks.
Aaron Rodgers and Goff are both alums of the University of California-Berkeley. According to Josh Dubow of the Associated Press, it will be just the seventh time in the Super Bowl era that quarterbacks from the same school start against each other in a playoff game.
