Jalen Hurts is piling up fantasy points in garbage time
Jalen Hurts has been a productive fantasy quarterback, and he's doing a lot of it in garbage time. Not that his fantasy managers care.
Through Week 7, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is QB2 or QB3 in fantasy, averaging somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 points per game depending on exact scoring settings.
Watching any Eagles game thus far would tell you Hurts has piled up a lot of garbage time production. The raw numbers make it clear. Of his 361 rushing yards, 251 have come in the second half. Three of his five rushing touchdowns have come in the fourth quarter, and four of his 10 total touchdown passes have come in the final stanza too. His fourth quarter passer rating is his best in any quarter (101.2), with the second-best being the first quarter (97.4).
All in all, the following is not surprising.
At times, the best part of being a fantasy football manager is glowing in the production someone has without having to be critical of how he gets there. Hurts’ fantasy managers, and I am one, only have to care about the bottom line and he’s delivering that every week. The only possible concern for the rest of the season is his job security, and even as speculation surfaces regarding Gardner Minshew stepping in that should not be a thing at all.
