Career Salary Game: LaMarcus Aldridge
After his sudden retirement due to health concerns, how much did LaMarcus Aldridge make in his NBA career?
On Thursday morning LaMarcus Aldridge announced his retirement after nearly 15 NBA seasons, citing an irregular heartbeat. Heart issues are something he has dealt with since his rookie season, but his condition only occasionally interrupted what became a long and underappreciated career.
Aldridge recently signed the Brooklyn Nets after agreeing to a buyout with the San Antonio Spurs. He played five games for the Nets.
Aldridge was a seven-time All-Star and five-time All-NBA selection (Second Team twice). One of the best scoring big men of his era, he’ll finish with a career average of 19.4 points per game.
All career accolades and higher priorities leading to retirement aside, it’s time to have a little fun. How much do you think Aldridge made during his career? Take a guess quickly, then scroll down (no Googling).
As part of his buyout with the Spurs, Aldridge gave back $7.25 million of his salary for this year. Still, according to Spotrac, he ends with $211,622,568 in career earnings. Before any endorsements.
